Advocate moves lab services

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital outpatient laboratory services move from the main hospital to the first floor of the Center for Advanced Care, 1700 Luther Lane, on Monday, Feb. 2. It's just west of the hospital. Outpatient laboratory services will be offered from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Complimentary parking is available in a garage west of the hospital that has direct indoor access to the Center for Advanced Care.

Digital TV transition meetings

City of Des Plaines media specialist William Soderberg will present two programs at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St., on the conversion to digital TV signals from analog, which takes place Feb. 17. Learn about the converter box coupon program, how to install a converter box, how to address antenna issues and other basics. You must register for the program, which is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, and 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, by calling (847) 376-2840 or going to dppl.org. Information on the conversion is also at dtv.gov.

Social skills group for boys

An educational, social skills-building group for boys ages 10 to 12 will be held on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Schaumburg Township's Spectrum Youth and Family Services, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. The group will run six weeks from Jan. 28 through March 4. Participants will do activities and discuss a range of topics to help them improve their socialization skills. Among the discussion topics will be how to start a conversation, making and keeping friends, self-esteem, bullying, peer pressure and disagreeing appropriately. The group will be co-led by Amy Buoy and Amy Denes. There is no charge for the group. Preregistration is necessary, as space is limited. For information, call (847) 884-6212.
