Indian Trails grows Spanish collection

Spanish-speaking patrons of the Indian Trails Public Library District now have a wider selection of books, CDs and DVDs after the library spent more than $10,000 at the Guadalajara International Book Fair.

The library had asked patrons what books they want, and Chris Medjo Me Zengue, an Indian Trails library assistant who went to the fair late last year, said all the requests will be filled within the year if not already.

A few of the topics added to the collection are books on home repair, cookbooks, kids books and folk tales, history books, fiction and books on going green. The books will begin to arrive in February.

Over the last several years, the library has spent more than $30,000 on original material in Spanish including CD's, audio books, DVD's and books. The cultural exchange is also an opportunity for publishers and publishing houses to promote various materials as well.

The Indian Trails Library is at 355 S. Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling.
