Neuqua Valley improves to 19-1

Despite playing only three home games thus far this season, Neuqua Valley improved to 19-1 on Monday by adding 2 more wins at Rockton Hononegah's Martin Luther King Tournament.

The Wildcats opened with a 68-54 victory over Zion-Benton. Snapping a 44-44 tie after three quarters, forward Dwayne Evans scored 13 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter including 9 for 10 from the foul line. Derek Raridon added 18 points while Zion-Benton was led by Quintrell Love with 19.

Neuqua concluded their 4-0, two-day trip to Hononegah with a 59-51 victory over Normal. Both Raridon and Rahjan Muhammad made three 3-point baskets and finished with 14 and 17 points, respectively, for the Wildcats.

Neuqua Valley's sole loss came Dec. 20 at East Aurora, 74-70 in overtime.

Farragut 57, St. Francis 49: St. Francis outscored Farragut 43-38 the last three quarters, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 19-6 deficit after one quarter at the MLK Dream Classic on Monday at Whitney Young. The Spartans' Joe Pfieffer made 8 baskets for a team-high 21 points while Dave Palash scored 12 and Clint Pierce 9 for St. Francis (9-6).
