Coffee with superintendent

All River Trails Elementary District 26 residents are invited to a morning cup of coffee and conversation with Superintendent Dane Delli at 9 a.m. today at River Trails Middle School Learning Center, 1000 N. Wolf Road in Mount Prospect. A light continental breakfast will be served with coffee.

Basketball benefit today

St. Raymond School in Mount Prospect hosts the Joey Sykes basketball tournament today and Sunday, Jan. 11, to raise money for Bear Necessities for neuroblastoma research, the cancer which killed the St. Raymond student in January 2004 at age 7 after he battled the disease for 31/2 years. Games among the eight 8th-grade teams from Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Hoffman Estates, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights and Wauconda schools are at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. today and 2 and 3 p.m. Sunday. Money from the nominal admissions charge and concessions will go to research.
