Do you believe in unicorns?

Youngsters can step into the mystical world of creatures such as fairies and unicorns in the "Magical Creatures Storytime and Craft" event. Boys and girls can dress up for the get-together which features two stories and a craft. There are no age requirements for participating youth.

'The Navy's Role'

Hear Command Master Chief Aloysius Nelson speak about the U.S. Navy's role in the current military engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan in "The Navy's Role," an "Our American Soldiers" presentation at the Lake County Discovery Museum. Nelson has completed 10 deployments in his 30-year naval career.

A few more days for 'Inside Out'

There are just a few more days to see the "Inside Out" sculpture exhibit at the Elmhurst Art Museum. The exhibit, which features contemporary sculpture by Chakaia Booker and Bob Emser, ends Sunday, Jan. 11.

Dealers and artisans sell everything from dolls to doghouses in miniature scale at the "Three Blind Mice Dollhouse and Miniatures Show." Dollhouses range from beginner's kits to elaborate finished houses.

Let's go - it's Mike and Joe!

The four-member, Indianapolis-based rock band Mike and Joe headlines at Palatine's Durty Nellie's. The band plays hits from well-known groups such as Fall Out Boy, Coldplay and U2 - and you might even hear them belt out a Beatles tune now and then.
