The Arlington Squares Square Dance Club invites the public to socialize and learn the basics of square dancing at its free "Beginner's Square Dance Party. "

Was that a fruitcake flying by?
Bring your leftover fruitcake (or buy some on site) to toss into the wind at the Morton Arboretum's "Fruitcake Fling." Participants will be judged in categories including how far they fling the fruitcake, how close the cake lands to a specified mark and how long two-person teams can toss a fruitcake without dropping it. Winners will be announced at a medal ceremony.

Mr. Crumbo's art
Limited edition, silk-screen prints by the late artist Woodrow "Woody" Crumbo, a member of the Potawatomi Native American tribe of Oklahoma, are on display through Sunday, Jan. 4, at the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian. Crumbo was a man of all trades - he was not only an artist of Native American subjects, he was a dancer, a flute player and a mineral prospector.
