Batavia vandalism

Batavia police are investigating several tire slashings reported Thursday morning. Altogether, eight vehicle tires were punctured on the 300, 400, 500, and 800 blocks of North River Street and the 0-100 block of Oak Terrace Court. To report information, call (630) 879-2840.

Diamond tribute in St. Charles

Sing and dance along with Denny Diamond as he pays tribute to Neil Diamond during a show at 8:30 tonight at the Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., in St. Charles. Batavia, Geneva tree disposal

Batavia residents can get rid of their natural Christmas trees for free starting Monday and the week of Jan. 12. Remove all decorations, and put them out at the curb. They will be picked up on your regular garbage day. After Jan. 16, you will need to put a yard waste or refuse sticker on the tree to dispose of it. In Geneva, trees will be picked up for free the weeks of Jan. 12 and 19.

Diveheart seeks volunteers

Diveheart, an organization that enables individuals with disabilities to experience scuba diving, is seeking volunteers for several events. Certified divers and instructors interested in working with children, adults and veterans with disabilities are invited to training Jan. 10 and 11. The Jan. 10 training will be at 5100 Main St., Downers Grove. The Jan. 11 training will be at Oak Lawn Community High School, 9400 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn. Call (630) 964-1983.

Schools host coaches clinic

The baseball programs at Jacobs (Algonquin) and Dundee-Crown (Carpentersville) high schools are hosting a free coaching clinic for youth baseball managers from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 17.
