Trees for free

Kids ages 2-17 get free admission to the Morton Arboretum through Sunday, Jan. 4. This outdoor museum, featuring more than 4,000 kinds of trees, shrubs and plants from around the world, is hosting some special events for the season. Stop by the indoor Enchanted Railroad exhibit or view the holiday tree display. Sip cocoa and listen to storytellers as you ride the Evergreen Express trolley that tours the arboretum's grounds. Youngsters can even take a "Cool Kids Nature Hike" in the Children's Garden.

Limited edition, silk-screen prints by the late artist Woodrow "Woody" Crumbo, a member of the Potawatomi Native American tribe of Oklahoma, are on display in the "On the Plains: The Art of Potawatomi Artist Woody Crumbo" exhibit. Crumbo was a man of all trades - he was not only an artist of Native American subjects, he was a dancer, a flute player and a mineral prospector.
