Gym locker thefts probed
Naperville police are looking for information leading to an arrest of the person or persons responsible for numerous thefts from lockers at XSport Fitness, 2780 Fitness Drive. At least nine thefts have occurred involving wallets containing credit cards between Oct. 8 and Dec. 16. Most of the thefts occurred between noon and 4 p.m. A surveillance camera captured an image of one suspect described as a white male of eastern European descent, possibly Polish, Lithuanian or Russian. He is about 6 feet, 3 inches tall with an athletic build and short hair. He was wearing athletic clothing and spoke with an accent. A silver Toyota Camry, possibly with a sunroof, may be connected to the incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006. Citizen police academy
Enrollment is happening now for Carol Stream's Teen Citizen Police Academy, which runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 14 to March 18 at the municipal center, 500 N. Gary Ave. Teens 14 to 17 will learn about crime scene processing, DUI enforcement, firearm safety, go on a ride-along and more. Danada sleigh rides
Horse-drawn sleigh rides will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, to Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Danada Equestrian Center, 3S507 Naperville Road, Wheaton. Tickets for the 15-minute rides are $5, $2 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 years old and younger. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more. Roselle Toys for Tots
The Roselle Police Department and the Village of Roselle are participating in the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign. Anyone who wishes to donate may contribute new, unwrapped toys to barrels located at village hall, 31 S. Prospect St., the Roselle Police Station, 103 S. Prospect St. and the Roselle Fire Station, 100 E. Maple Ave. The police station lobby is open 24 hours a day. Toys may be donated through Dec. 27.
