Four accused of holding man against his will

A Cook County Judge found probable cause to detain three men Saturday on charges of unlawful restraint after a prosecutor said they and a juvenile forced a man into a minivan.

Judge Howard Fink ordered Edwardo Bueno, 17, and his brother Freddie Bueno, 20, both of the 1200 block of Lincoln Court in Streamwood, each detained on a $75,000 D-bond, which requires the posting of $7,500 to leave jail.

A third man, Ruben Sanchez Ibarra, 17, of the 1900 block of Green Lane in Palatine, was ordered held on a $10,000 D-bond, which requires $1,000 cash to get out of jail. A juvenile, whose name was not disclosed, also was charged but was not in court Saturday.

Cook County State's Attorney Caroline Kennedy told Fink the men spotted a man who owed Edwardo Bueno money sitting in the back seat of a car on the 400 block of Business Center Drive in Mount Prospect at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. Kennedy said the four pulled up behind the car in their red minivan and opened the car's doors. Ibarra reached in, punched the victim in the face, and then the four forced him into the minivan and demanded he call a friend and get her to bring him the money he owed, Kennedy said.

Instead, she called police, Kennedy said.

Edwardo Bueno's attorney, Daniel Franks, said his client was at home when police arrested him. It was not clear whether the victim was released before the four went to the home where they were arrested.

Public Defender Katie McAteer said Ibarra has worked to help support his family since he was 14 and asked for bond so that he could continue to help support them.

The three adults are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14 in Rolling Meadows.
