Police investigating Winfield crash that killed pedestrian
DuPage County sheriff's police are investigating an accident that killed Fernando L. Gomez, 44, of West Chicago about 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, near County Farm Road and Hawthorne Lane near Winfield.
Police reports say no one will be charged in the accident, which occurred when a tan Buick was traveling north on County Farm Road and Gomez apparently stepped into traffic.
Gomez was transported to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, where he was pronounced dead.
Since the incident is still under investigation, sheriff's officials could not say if Sunday's ice storms played a role in the accident.
