St. Charles schools shares candidate info

Current members of the St. Charles Unit District 303 school board will select one of three candidates to join them on the board until April after a public interview at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

The new board member will fill the seat of Bob Lindahl, who resigned last month and moved out of state. Voters will select a permanent replacement in the April election.

The interim board member will join the board as it weighs a possible referendum in that same April election. The board is expected to vote on the referendum possibility in January following a community survey, the latest step in the consideration process after community meetings culminated in a recommendation to rebuild or renovate all of District 303's 17 buildings.

Here's a look at the three candidates seeking appointment:

• Brian Litteral has been a resident in the district for the past three years. He has 19 years of experience in technical management, project management, systems analysis, information technology consulting, sales support and systems integration. He currently is a senior IT project manager at Dynacorp. He has also served as a teacher in a Chicago South Side alternative high school. Litteral holds a B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics from Purdue University and numerous IT certifications.

• Lynne Nellemann is the director of the Women's Leadership Program at Dominican University in River Forest and describes her areas of expertise as corporate strategy, management, leadership and electronic commerce. Nellemann has a doctorate from Northwestern University in Interdisciplinary Studies. She has served in leadership roles for companies such as Gannett, International Harvester and A.T. Kearney. Nellemann also served on the Federal Glass Ceiling Commission as a Republican co-chair and made recommendations to eliminate barriers to the advancement of women and minorities in the private sector. She has also been named one of the top philanthropic fundraisers in Chicago by Crain's Chicago Business and "Advertising Woman of the Year" by Adweek. Nellemann has taught at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, DePaul University and Syracuse University. She is a resident of St. Charles.

• Michael Vyzral has been a resident of the district in unincorporated St. Charles for more than four years and has two children currently attending district schools. He is actively involved in the St. Charles Storm Basketball program as both a coach and a board member. He is a financial and sales management business executive for CitiFinancial Auto, with more than 22 years of experience. Vyzral holds a B.S. degree in Sales/Marketing from Ball State University.
