Schaumburg worker killed on job
A 28-year-old Lombard man died on the job in Schaumburg today after co-workers found him with his head caught in a large automated machine.
Brian Jensen was working alone at the Earle M. Jorgensen Co., 1100 Mitchell Blvd., when he was discovered just before 10 a.m.
Co-workers started CPR before he was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the machine processes steel that is delivered to it by large cranes.
There were apparently no witnesses.
The incident is under investigation by Schaumburg police, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
"This was a very tragic accident that occurred today," said a representative of the company, who would not give her name.
"At this time, we have no further comment."
The company, headquartered in California, distributes metal products including bars, tubing and plates.
