Briefs: Identify theft seminar

The Vernon Hills Police Department is co-sponsoring an identity theft presentation with representatives of Citibank from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4. The hourlong seminar will be conducted at the police department, 754 Lakeview Parkway. Topics include: understanding the definition of identity theft; ways your identity could be stolen; knowing the signs of identity theft; steps to take if you are victimized; ways to avoid identity theft; and learning how to order a free credit report. In 2006, the average time it takes to repair the damage from identity theft was more than 40 hours. Class size is limited to the first 30 people who register. District 103 to hold kindergarten registration

Lincolnshire-Prairie View District 103 hosts a kindergarten registration from 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at Sprague School, 2425 Riverwoods Road. Parents may choose the full-day tuition-based program or half-day program upon registering their child, who must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2009. Tuition for the full-day program is $3,200 per student, and full-day registration closes Jan. 9. If registration exceeds 120 students, a lottery will be held, and parents will be notified of their child's participation in the program by Jan. 16. Senior citizen dance

Grayslake Central High School's public service practicum class will host a senior citizen dance featuring the theme, "Winter Wonderland Gala" at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the high school, 400 N. Lake St. The event is free for area senior citizens. The gala includes dinner, entertainment and dancing. To make a reservation, call (847) 986-3333. Sweat with Santa

The Mundelein Park District is offering free fitness programs Dec. 6. Adults aged 14 and older can drop-in the Park View Health & Fitness Center and choose cycling (7:15 a.m.) or aerobics (half-hour classes, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.). Programs are free with a donation of a nonperishable food item for agencies that assist those in need. Membership is not required to participate. Park View is at 1401 N.
