Briefs: Woman robbed at gunpoint in Schaumburg
A woman leaving a store on the 500 block of South Roselle Road in Schaumburg Tuesday night was robbed by a man with a silver handgun. Police said a man in his 30s, wearing a red puffy jacket and black ski cap, approached her as she left the store just after 9 p.m. She threw an undisclosed amount of money at him, got into her car and drove away; he grabbed the money and ran south toward Weathersfield Way.
More break-ins at parking lot
Four vehicles parked in the Arlington Park commuter lot were broken into between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, Arlington Heights police said, noting that seven vehicles were broken into in the same parking lot during the week of Oct. 6. Arlington Heights Crime Stoppers is asking anyone with knowledge of these break-ins to call their hotline at (847) 590-STOP. Callers are guaranteed anonymity and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
Palatine budget meeting
The Palatine Village Council will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. today, Nov. 1, to discuss the proposed 2009 annual budget and capital investment plan. It will be held at village hall, 200 E. Wood St. (847) 359-9050.
