Basement fire damages Cary home

An early morning house fire left a Cary home with severe damage.

Cary firefighters responded to a call around 4:15 a.m. Friday on the 100 block of Pearl Street, finding a home filled with smoke.

Officials said the fire spread up from the basement through the walls into the first floor kitchen and hallways. The remainder of the home sustained smoke and heat damage.

According to a news release, the house was in the process of being remodeled and was unoccupied.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills firefighters also assisted at the scene.
