Whatever happened to the teacher in question?
I recently received Paul Froehlich's mailing concerning posting DCFS violations of day care facilities on their doors and on the Internet.
I say, why only day care centers? Children are cared for in numerous unlicensed church facilities, park districts, YWCA programs and others that are not required to be licensed by the state. ALL facilities need to be licensed in order to ensure they meet health, fire and safety requirements for the good of all children in Illinois.
Also, the teacher that was accused by DCFS of the offense to the child in that preschool should NOT be allowed to teach or care for children.
When a facility is licensed by the state, as Bright Stars is, all employees are required to be fingerprinted and background checked. This employee went through a tough screening and it is ridiculous to assume that Ms. Forte-Scott could have predicted her dreadful actions. DCFS needs to indicate on the employee's record the specific offenses, as Ms. Forte-Scott requested her licensing representative do. DCFS adamantly refused to put the incident on the teacher's permanent record.
It is important to remember that Ms. Forte-Scott immediately fired this employee upon learning of the act. But, a disturbing question remains and Paul Froehlich has failed to address the matter. Where is this employee now and how will other day care centers know of her heinous offenses?
As far as we know she has been working with children ever since. If Paul Froehlich truly wants to protect children he should focus on keeping employees who commit these offenses out of child care facilities and unlicensed day care centers, instead of exploiting these children for his own political gain.
Vote Anita Forte-Scott on Nov. 4.
