Hampshire Lions Club: The Hampshire Lions Club will host free Halloween Night Hotdog Roast at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 at Hampshire Elementary School, 321 Terwilliger Ave. Magician Steve Chezaday will entertain at 6:15 p.m.
Book Club: Village Green of East Dundee Book Club hosts afternoon of entertainment and a luncheon. Actress and vocalist Jenny Riddle will dramatize, in character dress, the personal lives of four U.S. First Ladies. The program is at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 followed by lunch. Dundee Township Historical Society: The Dundee Township Historical Society will recognize three area homes at its annual Historic Sites Program and Plaque Presentation to be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. The program will be held at the historical museum, 426 Highland Ave. in West Dundee. The houses to receive plaques are: 612 Washington St., West Dundee; 411 S. Second St., West Dundee; 305 Oregon Ave., West Dundee.

Elgin Lions Club: The Elgin Lions Club, monthly membership dinner meeting at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Elgin. Guest speaker is Gwen Seeley-Joosse of West Suburban Educational. Dinner is $15 per person with a cash bar. Call Lion Dan at (630) 587-5600.
Elgin Elks: The Elgin Elks Lodge, with the Illinois Elks Crippled Children's Program and Sherman Hospital, will sponsor a free orthopedic diagnostic clinic for children, infant to age 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3 at the hospital, 934 Center St., Elgin. The clinic will be conducted by Dr. Vincent P. Cannestra of Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Associates. All diagnostic services, including X-rays, MRIs and other tests are paid for by the Elks program. Financial assistance with treatment for a diagnosed program may be available. The clinic is by appointment only; call (800) 272-0074 from 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays. Family physicians can refer children to the clinic, but no referral is needed for an appointment.
Izaak Walton League: The public is invited for a special program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Izaak Walton League lodge at 899 Jay St. in Elgin. A presentation by Elgin Parks and Recreation Director Randy Reopelle will address Elgin's $1 million project to re-establish native wetlands along the west bank of the Fox River at the city-owned Clifford-Owasco Park. The program is free.
Golden K Kiwanis: The Elgin Golden K Kiwanis will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St., Elgin. George Wolff will present "Preventing Falling." Call (847) 741-7176.

VFW Post 2327: The South Elgin VFW Post 2327 and the Ladies Auxiliary will host a Veteran's Dance on at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at South Elgin Lions Club, 500 Fulton St., South Elgin. Cost is $15 per person and $25 for couples, cash only; half-price for any active duty personnel 18 years or older with military identification. A cash bar will be available. Art for All: Art for All will host its winter art show at the Gail Borden Library, Nov. 1 through Dec. 18. An artist reception is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.
Included will be "Paint Your World Green," an art exhibit by kids and teens (inspired by Slow Global Warming of Elgin). At the reception, kids can participate in rock painting. Signal Hill DAR: Signal Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a Genealogy Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Barrington Area Library, Room "A" on first floor, 505 N. Northwest Hwy.
The Illinois State Organization, NSDAR Membership Task Force, will present "DAR, Our Patriots, Our Founders, and our Future." The Membership Task Force, as well as chapter members, will be available to assist those interested in DAR membership.

Huntley American Legion: Huntley's American Legion Post 673, 11712 Coral St., will host its annual "Feather Party" from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 8, at the American Legion Hall. Raffle prizes include turkeys, hams, ducks, and steaks with a bottle of wine and many door prizes will be given away; a free lunch of turkey sandwiches will be available. You do not have to be a member of the Legion to participate in this event.
American Legion Post 57: American Legion Post 57 is hosting a country and western karaoke theme event from 7 p.m. to midnight on Nov. 8 at the American Legion, 820 N. Liberty, Elgin. Attendees can dress up as cowboys or cowgirls. The event will feature meat raffles and possibly a 50/50 raffle. Food and drinks will be available.
Elgin Woman's Club: Elgin Woman's Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 11, at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, Elgin. Hosted by the Education Committee, the program will feature a presentation on the importance of the Parent Teachers Association and parents' involvement at all levels of a child's education by Pamela Nielsen. AM Vets 245: AM Vets Post 245 of Cary will conduct a turkey raffle at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Tin Man's Sports Pub, 926 Route and Route 14, Fox River Grove. Proceeds will help sponsor semimonthly bingo and pizza at the North Chicago Veterans Hospital. A raffle book is available for $40 with the holder guaranteed a turkey, or it can be donated to the food pantry. The book also can be sold for $1 a page.
