Responsive leaders deserve re-election

We are fortunate to have a team like Sen. Terry Link (30th District) and Rep. Kathy Ryg (59th District) on the front line for us in Springfield. They are accessible and responsive leaders who deserve re-election. As a mayor, I have personally worked with both of them on many issues over the last few years, and seen what they can do for us.

Terry was tenacious in making sure that Route 22 was kept in the mix in IDOT's plans leading to its completion in the past year. Without Terry's constant follow-up, this much-improved major road expansion that reduces east-west gridlock would never have become a reality. Terry was also the leading force that pushed through the statewide smoking ban contributing to creating a healthier environment for all of us in public places throughout the state. Being part of the Senate leadership team makes Terry someone who can truly get things done for our region and the State.

Kathy Ryg is clearly one of the hardest working members of the General Assembly and respected on both sides of the aisle. She led the way in getting all members of the Lake County delegation regardless of party to stand together to work to implement agreed upon priorities for road and transportation improvements. Kathy has been a leader in fighting for legislation for persons with disabilities, and an outspoken advocate for education funding reform and accountability. Her municipal experience as a former trustee and clerk also makes her a go to person on issues affecting municipalities throughout the state.

Both Terry and Kathy are accessible and responsive leaders who deserve re-election. Please join me in enthusiastically lending them your support when you go to cast your votes.
