Come learn about Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts-Sybaquay Council invites girls ages 5-17 and their parents or guardians to come and find out what Girl Scouts can offer you and your family. Plan to attend one of these area recruitments in October.

• 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at Cary Area Public Library, 1606 Three Oaks Road, Cary

• 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Fox River Grove Public Library, 407 Lincoln Ave., Fox River Grove

The Girl Scout program encourages values based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, while giving girls the opportunity to gain experience through a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities in the areas of science and technology, the arts, out-of-doors and health and fitness. This family-oriented organization not only helps girls to discover their personal best and prepare for a positive future, but encourages them to grow as leaders and responsible citizens by learning the importance of helping others through community service. Girls develop courage, confidence and character, while they have fun and make new friends. For details, call Claudia at (847) 741-5521, ext. 7133.

Girl Scouts-Sybaquay Council is headquartered in Elgin and serves more than 10,000 girls in 50 communities throughout McHenry County and parts of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Lake, LaSalle and Kane counties.
