Sundling evacuated
School will open at the normal time today after a faulty electrical panel caused the evacuation of Sundling Junior High in Palatine Wednesday. Firefighters responded to the school around noon to find smoke in the generator room and possible damage to the fire alarm panel. Though investigators determined there was no fire hazard, fire and school district officials decided not to allow students back into the building until proper repairs could be made to the electrical and alarm systems. About 750 students were bused to Winston Campus, where they finished out the day.
