W. Chicago blanks Jacobs
Unable to generate any offense, Jacobs (6-6-4) opened its home boys soccer tournament with a 1-0 loss to West Chicago Friday.
Danny Trevor kept busy in goal racking up 6 saves in a losing effort.
The Golden Eagles will continue tournament action beginning today at 9 a.m. facing Harvard followed by Hoffman Estates at 10:45 a.m.

Hoffman Estates 3, Dundee-Crown 1: Competing in the opening round of the Jacobs Tournament, Dundee-Crown (7-9) suffered a tough 3-1 loss to Hoffman Estates. Jose Batres had the lone goal of the game for the Chargers, and was assisted by Tom Hanley. In goal, Eddie Fuentes tallied 5 saves. Dundee-Crown will kick off today's action against West Chicago at 9 a.m. and face the Jacobs B team at 10:45 a.m. prior to the championship round.
Boys golf
St. Edward d. Elgin Academy: With a medalist round 36 from Eric Winters, St. Edward etched out Elgin Academy 164 to 169 in nonconference action. Winters captured par at the Wing Park Golf Course to lead the Green Wave, who also saw solid rounds from Blake Poremba (38), Mike Holevas (40) and Brian Bruner (50).
The Hilltoppers were led by Christen Lynn and David Kaufman, who each shot 38. John Oremus finshed with a 45, and Drew Stuart shot a 48.
