Briefs: Murder trial to close
Lawyers will make their closing arguments this morning as the emotional trial into the death four years ago of a Naperville baby comes to a close. Ariana Creary died at 7 months old on Sept. 4, 2004, after her father watched her alone in their apartment. Locksley Creary, 30, of Bolingbrook, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. He did not testify. Prosecutors allege he intentionally inflicted severe injuries, including a badly damaged liver. The defense team argues Ariana died of a pre-existing gastrointestinal problem and the liver damage was caused accidentally when Creary administered CPR incorrectly. Medical experts offered differing opinions. DuPage Circuit Judge George Bakalis said he will not rule right away.
