CLC to present children's play
The College of Lake County will present "The Giver," based on the best-selling book by Lois Lowry, from Oct. 1 to Oct. 5 in the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.
Directed by Craig Rich, the story centers on 12-year-old Jonas, who is chosen to be the "Receiver of Memories" and begins training with The Giver. The Giver reveals forgotten memories, and Jonas discovers dark secrets about the society in which he lives. The show is suited for children age 10 and older.
School group show times will be 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 and at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 3. Public performances will be at 3 and 7 p.m. on Oct. 4 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 5.
The cast features Dylan Clark of Ingleside as Jonas; Mark Audrain of Round Lake as The Giver; Alex Peterson of Grayslake as Asher; Jessica Steinberg of Northbrook as Fiona; Elizabeth Erickson of Gurnee as Lily; Brooke Elbrecht of Gurnee as Mother; Bill Roberts of Libertyville as Father; Nancy Krause of Prairie View as Chief Elder; and Sydney Osborn of Barrington Hills as Rosemary.
