Not at its best, Benet wins anyway
Benet was able to stay perfect this season and improve to 15-0 with a straight-set win against 13-1 Joliet Catholic on Tuesday night 25-21, 25-16.
Despite the win the Redwings were not necessarily impressed with how they played.
"Overall, we aren't extremely happy with how we played tonight," Benet coach Brad Baker said. "We looked awesome during certain spurts but other than that we could have played more consistently. We expect to play great every time we step foot on the court."
The spurt that Baker spoke of was an 11-2 run Benet used in the second game to turn a 11-9 lead in to a 22-11 lead, making it easier to close out the match.
Another key for the Redwings was they always knew where the Angels hitters were on the floor. For the match Benet had 8 blocks for kills and the match ended on a block by Jessica Jendryk, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
"One thing we needed to do tonight was know where the hitters were on the floor that could hurt us," Baker said. "We had a pretty good idea where they were all night."
