Traffic enforcement campaign in Wheaton:
Wheaton police released the results of a special traffic enforcement campaign that focused on belt use and child restraint laws. The campaign, which ran from Aug. 27 through Sept. 7, resulted in 337 citations for not wearing a seat belt; three citations for child restraint violations; 56 citations for speeding; two misdemeanor arrests; one DUI arrest. Another special enforcement is scheduled for November.
Cruise nights in Lombard concludes:
Lombard will wrap its 10th season of Cruise Nights on Saturday, Sept. 13, along St. Charles Road in the village's downtown. To mark the special anniversary, a celebration will be held at 6 p.m. on south Park Avenue with a large cake. A disc jockey will play music. For details, visit www.villageoflombard.org.
Addison parks foundation seeks board members:
Two positions are open in the Addison Park District Parks and Recreation Foundation, following the retirement of board members Warren Clark Jr. and William Moffit. Clark served as chairman and Moffit served as vice president since the foundation's inception in June 2003. Board applicants should be passionate about the foundation's mission and have experience in fundraising. The foundation is a not-for-profit organization that supports, promotes and encourages the expansion of educational and recreational opportunities for residents in the Addison Park District.
