Voter registration event: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 13, 20 and 27; Oct. 4; Palatine Library, 700 N. North Court, Palatine. Hosted by the League of Women Voters Palatine area.

Schaumburg Township Committee on Youth: 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. Meeting includes a session of the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition for the area. (847) 884-0030.

U-46 community meeting: 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, Elgin High School, 1200 Maroon Drive, Elgin. Dr. Jose M. Torres, U-46 school superintendent, hosts an open session to meet with U-46 community members preceding the Citizens' Advisory Council meeting. www.u-46.org.

The Schaumburg Township Republican Organization will man its headquarters to register new voters or voters moving to Schaumburg Township. Schaumburg School District 54 and the Village of Schaumburg will host an electronic recycling, paper shredding and CFL light bulb pick up event. Hope Community Church No Sale Garage Sale: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, Eisenhower Junior High School, 800 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates. Donated items will be given away free to community members to celebrate the church's 10th anniversary in the Schaumburg/Hoffman area. First come, first served.

Preschool screening: Sept. 25 for all children between the ages of 2 years 9 month and 5 years old, who live in Roselle District 12 boundaries.
