Woman crashes following police pursuit

A woman whose license had been revoked crashed into another car in Crystal Lake Friday after being pursued by Algonquin and Lake in the Hills police, authorities said.

Crystal Lake police said the pursuit had ended before the woman crashed. She and an Aurora man driving the other car were both injured.

Rebecca E. Groh, 29, of 639 Virginia Road in Crystal Lake, was charged with aggravated driving with a revoked licensed, a felony, along with misdemeanor reckless driving, after police said her Chrysler collided with a Mazda on Main Street north of Route 14 near Crystal Point Mall.

Groh and the Mazda driver, Hector Leger of Aurora, were taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock. Groh was treated and released to police; Leger's injuries were not believed life-threatening. His 16-year-old male passenger wasn't injured.

Crystal Lake Sgt. Scott Sosnowski said the pursuit began in Algonquin and was then picked up by Lake in the Hills police. He had no information on the speed of the pursuits. It was unclear whether Algonquin police were trying to pull Groh over when the reported pursuit began.

Neither Algonquin nor Lake in the Hills police were available for comment.
