See Dave Rudolf today at Dist. 158 Ravinia Night
The Chesak Martin PTA is hoping to bring Huntley Unit District 158 teachers, families and community members together today as it hosts its second annual Ravinia Night celebration.
This year's event, which takes place on the district's Reed Road campus, will be a beach party, featuring performer Dave Rudolf.
Community members are invited to pull up their lawn chairs and spread out their beach towels for the free performance, which will include Rudolf doing songs by the likes of Jimmy Buffet and Harry Belafonte.
It also will feature fun activities during the performance to get families involved.
"Dave promises a great time with great music and interactive family fun," event organizer and PTA member Jennifer Troy said. "Limbo, hula hoops, bubbles are all part of the show. It promises to be a great evening together."
This is the second year the PTA has hosted the Ravinia Night as one way to bring families, teachers and community members together to celebrate the start of a new school year, and have a little fun before summer ends.
Last year's performance featured the group Ac Rock. Teachers brought their children to the event, and were out there dancing with students and their families.
Troy said she's hoping for more of the same this year, and for an even bigger turnout.
Rudolf is a popular area performer, she said, who was recommended to the PTA by the Huntley Park District, because of the crowd-pleasing performances he's held there.
She invites new families and new students to the district to attend the event, which will take place between Chesak and Martin schools along Reed Road, near the campus' butterfly garden.
Troy said it was a fun time last year, and should be even better this year.
"This year we hope to continue the tradition," Troy said.
"Dave Rudolf's beach party is a time for our families, teachers and students to come together," she said. "The butterfly garden between the schools is a perfect setting for our families to come together."
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. today. True to Ravinia-style, families can bring their dinner or snacks to eat out on the lawn before or during the performance.
