Warrenville Road closure to last the weekend
Lisle drivers and visitors should plan ahead this weekend if their plans include using Warrenville Road.
The thoroughfare will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday between Yackley Avenue and Route 53, officials said.
Illinois Tollway spokeswoman Jan Kemp said the bridge over Warrenville Road is being rebuilt and widened as part of the ongoing Reagan Memorial Tollway Rebuild & Widen Project between Washington Street and Finley Road.
"We need to get in there and demolish the bridge that carries the tollway over Warrenville Road and we need to be free of traffic during that time," Kemp said. "We could have done nighttime closures only but the process would have taken three weeks. This way we inconvenience drivers once instead of three separate times."
The detour, which will be posted at the closure points, will send westbound traffic south on Route 53 to Ogden Avenue, west on Ogden Avenue to Yackley Avenue, and north on Yackley Avenue to Warrenville Road.
Eastbound traffic will be directed south on Yackley Avenue to Ogden Avenue, east on Ogden Avenue to Route 53, and north on Route 53 to Warrenville Road.
Kemp said the project to rebuild & widen I-88 to four lanes between Washington Street and Finley Road is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
The project also includes interchange improvements at Naperville Road, Route 53 and the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355), and bridge rebuilding & widening at the DuPage River and Naperville Road.
