Used sports ball collection: In cooperation with the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and Rebound Sports Project, the South Barrington Park District will be collecting old soccer balls, volleyballs and basketballs through Sept. 10 at the park district office, 3 Tennis Club Lane, South Barrington. Streamwood Bulldogs travel basaelball: Tryouts for the 14-year-old 2009 travel team held 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 6 and 7, Hoosier Grove Park, 700 W. Irving Park Road, 1/4-mile east of Route 59. Players cannot turn15 before May 1, 2009, and do not have to be Streamwood residents. Streamwood Bulldogs is a competitive travel program with an emphasis on fundamentals and instruction. Conant High School Girls Feeder program: 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29, Conant High School, 700 Cougar Trail, Hoffman Estates. Basketball clinics for the Conant High School Girls Feeder program are open to all fifth-eighth grade girls who will attend Conant High School.

Men's Flag football: The Northfield Football League, a premiere adult men's flag football league, is searching for teams and players for the upcoming fall season.
