Briefs: $250,000 bond for man
A Hoffman Estates man is being held at DuPage County jail on a $250,000 bond after authorities say he fired two gun shots at a 15-year-old in Willowbrook on Sunday. Michael A. Potkay, 29, of 1120 Apple St., was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, said DuPage County jail officials. He was in court Monday for a bond hearing, and is scheduled to appear again on Sept. 29. The bullets didn't strike the teen, who was walking around 5:30 p.m. near Route 83 on Midway Drive in Willowbrook. The teen approached a car and threw up a gang sign, police said. Potkay, the driver of the car, fired a gun twice, police said. Potkay also exchanged gang signs, police said. Police aren't sure if the gunshots were to scare or to target the teen.
