Public Star Party: 8 p.m. Aug. 30, Afton Forest Preserve, 13600 Crego Road, in DeKalb County. Northwest Suburban Astronomers (NSA) in cooperation with the DeKalb County Forest Preserve District host this look at stars, galaxies, nebulae and star clusters with the help of NSA member telescopes. Dress for the weather, bring insect repellent and a flashlight covered with red plastic or cellophane. Free. Event will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
