Wauconda man accused in sex assault

A 31-year-old Wauconda man is in McHenry County Jail after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a party early Sunday morning.

Troy McKinnies, of 307 Brown St. in Wauconda, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint by the McHenry County State's Attorney's office, said Lt. Andrew Zinke of the McHenry County sheriff's office.

He said McKinnies was at a party in the 6700 block of Route 120 on the west side of McHenry when he allegedly assaulted the victim.

The woman left the party after the attack and went to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, where she was treated and released.

Police took a statement from the woman, Zinke said, then arrested and charged McKinnies.

McKinnies remains in McHenry County Jail, unable to post 10 percent of the $150,000 bond.

If convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault - a Class X felony - McKinnies could be sentenced to up to 30 years behind bars.
