Crystal Lake

• Police arrested a man Friday in a criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint case that occurred at the Crystal Lake Motel at 9 a.m. Aug. 14. Robert J. Minerly, 33, who has no permanent address, has been charged with one count of home invasion, one count of criminal sexual assault, one count of residential burglary and one count of unlawful restraint, police said. Police located Minerly in the McHenry County jail where he was being held since Aug. 18 on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender with a bond of $3,000. His bond on the new charges has been set at $50,000. His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. in Woodstock.

Elgin

• A second arrest was made Thursday in the July 15 burglary of a home on the 800 block of West Chicago Street in which a PlayStation 2 game system, a memory card, two game controllers, $800 in cash and change, two watches, an iPod and three PlayStation games were stolen. DeAngelo Howard, 17, of 510 W. Highland Ave., Elgin, was charged with felony residential burglary, police said. Two more people are still being sought in connection with the burglary. He was unable to post a $10,000 bond and was taken to the Kane County jail to await an Aug. 29 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.

• Police were called to Menards at 6:30 p.m. Thursday where store personnel saw a man conceal a drill and air nailer in his clothing and attempt to leave the store without paying the $410 for them, according to a report. Shawn A. Glowacz, 30, of 25748 Willow Springs, Mundelein, was charged in court Friday with felony retail theft, police said. Glowacz said in court he had spent time in the Illinois Department of Corrections for residential burglary. He couldn't post $5,000 and remains in the Kane County jail. His next court date is on Sept. 4 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
