Mount Prospect trustee resigns
Tim Corcoran has resigned from the Mount Prospect village board, citing increased work responsibilities. Mayor Irvana Wilks has until the end of November to submit a name for board approval to hold the seat until next April's municipal election.
Corcoran resignation, delivered to Wilks Aug. 8, takes effect Sept. 30, the village said in a news release sent out Thursday.
Corcoran is the second trustee to resign this summer. On June 6, Richard Lohrstorfer resigned. His position was filled by the appointment of Steve Polit on July 15.
Corcoran was recently promoted to president and chief operating officer of ZF Services North America in Vernon Hills.
"I believe that residents deserve an elected official's undivided attention, and due to greater responsibilities at work and increased travel commitments I can no longer give the position the time and energy required," Corcoran said in the release.
Corcoran, who moved to Mount Prospect in 1985, was first elected to the board in 1989 after being appointed by then mayor Carolyn Krause in 1988 to the Ad Hoc Recycling Committee. Corcoran also has served as the village's representative to the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) since 1989. Since 2002, he has served as vice-chair of the SWANCC Executive Committee.
Wilks praised Corcoran for emphasizing fiscal responsibility.
"His measured judgment on issues from the audit committee to finance to zoning meant he was well respected among his colleagues," Wilks said in the release. "We appreciate his service to this community. He will be missed."
ZF Services North America supplies vehicle drivetrain technology. Corcoran, 53, has been with ZF since 1989.
