Northwest Travelers Baseball Tryouts (10U -14U):

Northwest Travelers Baseball will conduct tryouts for the 2009 teams at Harper College in Palatine. Players need only attend one date but can attend as many as they would like. Preregistration is not required, register on day of tryout. Tryout dates and times are:

• 2009 10U (players may not turn 11 before May 1, 2009)

Aug. 9 and 10: Registration,11:30 a.m.; tryout noon-2 p.m.

Aug. 16 and 17: Registration,10:30 a.m.; tryout 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Illinois Indians Baseball: The Illinois Indians Travel Baseball organization will hold tryouts for its Fall 2008 and Summer 2009 seasons for ages 13-15 at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 and for ages 14-18 at 9 a.m. Aug. 10, both at Wheeling High School, 900 S Elmhurst Road, Wheeling. Chicago Shamrox Hot Rox Dance Team auditions: 8:15 a.m. Aug. 9, Holiday Inn Northwest, Elgin. The auditions will have two rounds. Girls advancing past the first round of tryouts will perform in front of a live studio audience and be judged by a panel of celebrity judges. Fill out an application, submit at least one photo and a $25 audition fee. Girls must be at least 18 as of Aug. 1. Palatine Youth Baseball tryouts: Aug. 9, Hamilton Fields, Smith Road and Northwest Highway, Palatine. Tryouts for the 10-year-old team will be held from 9-11 a.m., check-in time is 8:30 a.m.; 11-year-old team from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., check-in at 10:30 a.m.; and 12-year-old team tryouts will be held from 1-3 p.m., check-in at 12:30 p.m. Tryouts on Aug. 10 will be for players who make the first cut and are invited back.
