Huge weekend garage sale:
The 10th annual Lexington Green II subdivision garage sale in Schaumburg takes places 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday off Meacham Road just south of Schaumburg Road. At least 30 families are participating in the sale, and items for sale range from TVs and computers to a motorcycle and exercise equipment. Veterans tee off:
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Barrington Memorial Post 7706 hosts its 15th annual fundraiser golf outing Aug. 11 at Foxford Hills Golf Course in Cary. There is a $110 fee per golfer. Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the golf teeing off at 1 p.m. The outing will use the "best ball" format. Proceeds will be used to support the North Chicago Veterans Administration Hospital. Sponsorships are still available. Abt Electronics at 1200 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Glenview is offering free how-to classes to help people learn how to work their high-tech gadgets. The hands-on classes include Digital TV Transition at 7 p.m. every Tuesday; How to Use Your Camcorder from 9 to 11 a.m. every Saturday; and How to Use Your DVD Recorder, from 7 to 9:15 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
