Batavia artist best of show in Wheaton

About 100 artists from as far as Florida and Maryland brought their works to Wheaton over the weekend for the Downtown Wheaton Association's 6th annual Fine Art Fair.

The juried competition drew crowds to the downtown area despite rainy weather.

There were three Best of Show winners. Each received a $1,000 prize. They are:

• Edward Cook, Batavia, acrylic miniatures

• Michael Weber, Port St. Lucia, Fla., watercolor

• Gena Ollendieck, Cresco, Iowa, mixed media

Eight artists took home $500 first place prizes. They are:

• Cory McCorory, Sandwich, Ill., ceramic

• Stuart Roddy, Sterling, Ill., oil

• Lynn Krause, Woodstock, pastel

• Jerry Brown, Lees Summit, Mo., pastel

• Ted Simmering, Byron, Ill., acrylic

• Joan Ladendorf, Hanover Park, fiber

• Jane Frey, Taylorville, Ill., oil

• Jill Kramer, Oak Park, printmaking
