John Hersey High School sophomores Vicky Dapper and Selma Lasker were named recipients of Jiffy Lube's "What Drives You" Scholarship Program. Dapper, the overall Chicagoland winner, was awarded a $7,500 scholarship to apply toward the college of her choice. Lasker, a regional winner, was awarded $1,000 to the college of her choice. The driver education program at Hersey HIgh School was awarded $500 for submitting the most essays in the Chicago area during the scholarship competition.

The following members of the Prospect High School Class of 2009 received perfect composite scores of 36 on the ACT college admission exam: Matt Kania, Lauren Pellant and Trevor Thompson of Arlington Heights; and Max Youngquist, Charlie Orozco and Heidi Nafis of Mount Prospect.

Golden Corridor Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals elected the following 2008-09 board: Andrea Turner of Crystal Lake, president; Fay Schafernak of Arlington Heights, vice president; Don Humphrey of Des Plaines, chapter treasurer: Ann Kuhlmann of Des Plaines, recording secretary; and Jane Holland of Arlington Heights, corresponding secretary. Turner, Schafernak and Humphrey are administrative assistants at Motorola's Corporate Headquarters, while Kuhlmann is an administrative assistant for Eastman Kodak in Des Plaines. Holland is an administrative assistant at Dentsply Professional also in Des Plaines.The Golden Corridor Chapter meets the third Thursday of every month at Zurich NA in Schaumburg. Mindy and Laura Park of Palatine and Susie Koh of Buffalo Grove were among the musicians from The Academy of the Music Institute of Chicago that swept the Junior Division of the 2008 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition held at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at the University of Notre Dame in May. Mindy Park, a cellist, played with the Ridere Quartet that won a silver medal. Laura Park and Susie Koh, both violinist, were members of the Aurelia String Quartet which won a bronze medal.

Danielle Dittmer, 17, of Hanover Park will have her photographs on display in the Hanover Park Park District Community Center Gallery, 1919 Walnut Ave., Hanover Park through July 30. Dittmer, who is the youngest artist to have a one-person show in the history of the gallery, became interested in photography at age 13. She concentrates in landscapes, natural subjects and wildlife, and has created more than 100 photographs many of which will be included in the show. An artists reception for Dittmer will be held from 5-7 p.m. July 14, at the gallery. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and by appointment. Call (630) 837-2468.
