Julie Durmus of Island Lake was named to the dean's list for the second semester for the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University in Chicago.

David P. Hruska of Libertyville graduated with high honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in December 2007. In April 2008, David and lab partner Thomas Galvin received the Edward and Margaret Ernst Award for their senior design project titled, "An Inexpensive Michelson Interferometer for Submicron Distance Measurement." This project also received the Electrical Engineering Fall 2007 Engineer's Award. David is currently doing graduate work at U of I concerning quantifying ultrasound for breast cancer tumor diagnosis.

Lorraine J. Radcliffe, daughter of Joe and Gigi of Wauconda, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2008 semester at the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign. Radcliffe is a freshman attending the College of Applied Health Sciences and majoring in community health. Lorraine is a graduate of Wauconda High School.

Matt Markgraf, son of Sue and Chris Markgraf of Mundelein, graduated with honors from Murray State University in Murray, Ky., on May 9 with a bachelor's degree in theater. Markgraf begins his master's study in creative writing for children at Murray State in July. He is a 2004 graduate of Mundelein High School.

Jamie Rominski of Gurnee, daughter of Joseph Rominski of Gurnee and Barbara Swanson Chan of Gurnee, graduated summa cum laude from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wis., with a bachelor of business administration degree in May 2008.

Christopher Poynton of Lake Zurich, son of Tom and Jan Poynton, was named to the to the dean's list at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Class of 2009, for the recently completed Winter 2008 semester. He is a 2005 graduate of Lake Zurich High School.

Susan Elizabeth Zeiger, daughter of William and Kristen Zeiger of Lake Zurich, graduated summa cum laude from Illinois State University in Normal on May 10 with a bachelor's degree in education. Zeiger majored in middle level education with endorsements in social studies and language arts. Zeiger is a 2004 graduate of Lake Zurich High School.

Beth Jordan, daughter of David and Mary Jordan of Libertyville, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on May 11, 2008, with University Honors from the college of engineering. Beth also received the Memorial Excellence Award which annually recognizes a senior man and woman who excelled academically and demonstrated leadership qualities through extracurricular activities in the University community. Beth majored in mechanical engineering and will be joining the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of NASA, in Pasadena, CA, where she will work on the Mars rovers. She is a 2004 graduate of Libertyville High School.

Rob McKay, son of Mike and Jan McKay of Wauconda, was named to the dean's honor list at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, for the spring 2008 semester. He is a construction management major.

Eric C. Watts of Round Lake, son of Eric W. Watts and grandson of Carole and Jim Shook, was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Harper College with a GPA of 3.65. Eric was a starter on the 2007 football team and a 2007 gradate of Round Lake High School.

John Patrick O'Leary, a College of Lake County criminal justice honor student and son of Timothy and Patricia O'Leary of Hawthorn Woods, received the 2008 Miguel Juarez CLC Scholarship from the City of Waukegan Citizen Police Academy.

Adam Miller of Kildeer and Amanda Heinsen of Lake Bluff were named to the dean's list at Providence College in Providence, R.I., for the spring 2008 semester.

Frances Field Armour of Green Oaks, child of Vernon Kelley Armour, was awarded a bachelor's degree with a major in anthropology by the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.

Emily Marie Martinat of Lake Forest, daughter of Mr. Mrs. Brian Steven Martinat, was awarded a bachelor's degree with a major in international and global studies by the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.
