Briefs: Man charged in drug sale
A 32-year-old man has been arrested after police say they saw him sell cocaine in a parking lot outside his Bartlett apartment. Francisco Jaimes, of 564 Deere Park Circle, was charged Tuesday with two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance, said Bartlett police Sgt. Michael McGuigan. He said Jaimes was selling the drug outside the Bartlett Lakes Apartments. Jaimes is being held without bond. His next court date is scheduled for July 31.
Body of woman identified
A body found Monday in the Busse Woods Forest Preserve near Elk Grove Village has been positively identified as Patricia McNamara, 45, of Schaumburg. She was last seen near her home May 28. Her mother, Lee Reiser, said McNamara had been planning to go on a religious retreat in Ohio with a friend, but disappeared. The cause of McNamara's death remains undetermined pending toxicology tests, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Reiser said her daughter's last contact with the family had been a letter indicating that she was depressed and asking her family to pray for her.
Summerfest opens today
Prospect Heights annual Summerfest opens tonight with the carnival, from 5 to 10 p.m. on the festival grounds at Rand and Thomas roads. The fest continues through Sunday. Hours are: 5 to 10:30 p.m. Friday; 3 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday. The bands making up the main stage entertainment on Friday are Hot Rocks at 7 p.m. and American English at 9 p.m. Main stage Saturday: Sanstoan, 7 p.m. and the Cryan' Shames, 9 p.m. Main stage Sunday: The Fairlanes, at 6:30 p.m. (847) 398-6070; prospect-heights.il.us.
Road closed for festival
Robert Parker Coffin Road in Long Grove will be closed for four days this week to accommodate traffic for Strawberry Fest. The closing will start noon today and last until Sunday evening. It will be closed from the Old McHenry Road intersection to just west of the bridge. Local traffic will be allowed to go to the Long Grove Community Church and Montessori School with access from Route 53 only.
