Elgin city leaders have launched a new tool for residents to find out when their streets will be resurfaced this summer. Visit the city's Web site, www.cityofelgin.org, and click the 2008 Street Resurfacing Project under Quick Links for maps of neighborhoods and construction schedules.

Poker run on tap

The Anvil Club in East Dundee will host its Motor Cycle Poker Run at 9:30 a.m. June 21 to benefit the Shop with a Cop charity. Officers from the East Dundee, West Dundee, Carpentersville, Gilberts and Sleepy Hollow police departments will participate. The Shop with a Cop program aims to provide disadvantaged children with holiday gifts and interact with law enforcement officers in a positive manner. Trail race this Saturday

The Xterra X-Country Trail Run 8K will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday at Deer Grove West Forest Preserve, Quentin and Dundee roads in Palatine. Runners will navigate roots, rocks, fallen trees, hills, creeks and ravines. Participation is limited to 300 people and awards will be given to the top three male and female runners in each age group. The fee is $30 until midnight tonight and increases to $35. The Xterra Trail Run Series puts on 50 events in 16 states. Register at chicagotrailseries.com.
