Fire forces workers to evacuate Carol Stream building
The Carol Stream Fire Department spent an hour and a half fighting a blaze at a business on Friday night.
Crews were called to the Banner Service Corporation, 494 East Lies Road, at about 7 p.m. for a piece of machinery that had caught fire.
A handful of employees were safely evacuated and there were no injuries, Carol Stream Lt. Joe Gilles said.
The damage is less than $10,000, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.
The department was assisted by crews from Bloomingdale, Glenside and Wheaton fire departments.
