Woodstock's Sonatas added to quaint town
In playing Punxsutawney, Pa., in the Hollywood comedy "Groundhog Day," Woodstock didn't have to act at all. It really was the quaint little Victorian village with small shops and warm, friendly people that it "played" in the 1992 film.
And that fact is often music to the ears of people looking to buy in the single-family segment of The Sonatas, a community of 134 large homes that William Ryan Homes is building in the heart of town.
The picture postcard-like homes come in 10 different models, ranging in size from 2,156 to 2,979 square feet. The plans include a sprawling two-bedroom, two-bath ranch and several four bedroom, 2½ baths with -- depending on the plan -- such features as two-story foyers, two-story family rooms, and kitchens with center islands. The homes have nine-foot first floor ceilings, two- and three-car garages, and partial basements. The prices range from $245,990 to $275,990.
Buyers can choose such options as designer master baths, full basements, wood-burning fireplaces, volume ceilings, and -- again, depending on the plan -- morning rooms and in-law suites.
Families living in The Sonatas will have easy access to everything that Woodstock, this historic McHenry County village, has to offer. There's the celebrated town square that was seen in the movie; the traditional downtown district with restaurants, an opera house and much more; a variety of fests, fairs and markets; and a major park district full of ball fields, playgrounds, walking trails and a large community water park.
To visit the models, take I-90 to Route 47, north to Woodstock's Ware Road, and east to the community entrance. The sales office is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Thursday and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday.
