Fox River Grove Middle School presents 'Christmas in July'

This year's spring play at Fox River Grove Middle School will bring audiences a unique theater-going experience.

On Friday and Saturday, the Middle School Theatre will present the classic comedy "Christmas in July" and will be presented as an Audio Theatre project.

Audio Theatre performances are specially designed for audio presentation. When presented on stage, actors perform all of the characters as well as the sound effects live in front of the audience using their voices and various props.

The set will remind the audience of a radio studio where the student actors will perform their "broadcast."

"Christmas in July" was originally performed as part of the Lux Radio Theatre, and was broadcast live on June 26, 1944.

The school's performance is adapted from the original script. To give the audience a true old-time-radio experience, the broadcast's original commercials and public-service announcements will be performed as well.
