Arlington Park to host Canine Companions Day
Although the date for Canine Companions Day at the Races isn't until Aug. 2, tickets went on sale May 1. That gives you ample time to reserve your favorite seats at Arlington Park. Hours are noon to 5:30 p.m. and will include your choice of seat location and lunch. Tickets are $85 per person for regular seating, $135 for a limited number of prime window seats, $45 for ages 12 to 20 and $35 for ages 4 to 11. Call (815) 334-8236 for reservations and information.
Canine Companions for Independence provides and trains canines for disabled individuals other than the blind and deaf. This year's event is the Amy Campos Memorial. Amy, who was head of the Chicago Satellite office in Woodstock until her recent death, was among those dependent on a Canine Companion.
A part of CCI is Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence of which our local Lions Clubs are very involved.
Correction Clinic: The date of the German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago's next Correction Clinic is May 23 in the clubhouse at 4925 County Farm Road, Hanover Park. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m.; judging is at 7 p.m.

Save-A-Pet Events: Save-A-Pet's Flower and Plant Fundraiser is Saturday at Turks Greenhouses, 22781 W. Rte. 60 (between Peterson and Cedar Lake roads) in Grayslake. Twenty percent of the day's proceeds will go to the shelter.
Another fundraiser will be between 2 and 10 p.m. May 20 at Caribou Coffee, 6641 Grand Ave. in Gurnee. Twenty percent of the sales will go to Save-A-Pet.
