Give Rep. Franks real election recall

In the May 9 Guest View, Democrat state Rep. Jack Franks expresses his consternation over the lack of the Democrat-controlled state Senate from passing HJRCA 28 giving voters the option to amend the state constitution to include the ability to recall elected officials.

I applaud Rep. Franks effort for giving the voters another choice to seek good government. I think the Senate made a mistake by not approving the legislation.

What Rep. Franks forgot to mention is that this November, voters will have an opportunity to recall our elected leaders and offer a change in how our state is governed.

The problem here in Illinois is in our experiment in one-party rule, Democrats control the Governor's mansion, the Illinois House and Senate, Cook County government and every state constitutional office and yet chaos reins.

Democrats control our state and yet they can't pass a budget, they can't cut spending and they offer only record tax increases at a time when residents are finding it hard to keep up.

What makes matters worse is that they fight with each other even more than they fight Republicans.

Democrat Rep. Franks can get the change that he can't get from the Democrat Senate if voters elect a majority of Republicans who upon their election will cut taxes, cut spending and offer voters the amendment to recall corrupt and inept elected officials.

Most importantly, if voters make a change to Republican leadership in the House and Senate, we will see a return to civility in state government.

Obama is right. It's time for a change in Illinois. It's time for a Republican majority.
