Bartlett High
• On Wednesday, the Orchestra Concert will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Bartlett High School auditorium, 701 Schick Road, Bartlett.
Elgin High
• On Wednesday, the Elgin High School Choral Department, under the direction of Rosalind Zager, will present its final concert of the year at 7 p.m. May 14 at the high school, 1200 Maroon Drive, Elgin. The "Grand Finale" concert will feature works by Orlando di Lasso, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Z. Randall Stroope, as well as musical theater selections, including a medley from "Sweeney Todd." Senior choir members will be recognized for their service and commitment to the Choral program, and juniors will receive their letters. Choir Alumni are invited to attend and join the combined choirs for the finale of "River in Judea." Tickets, which are $2 for adults, $1 for students/senior citizens, can be purchased at the door.
Larkin High
• On Friday, the Visual and Performing Arts Academy junior dancers will perform "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Steps" at 7 p.m. The premise of this show will bring to life famous pictures and paintings. The show also highlights the production skills of the junior class dancers. The production is completely planned and organized by the students. Tickets are $5 per person and are available at the door on the evening of the performance.
South Elgin High
• From 7 to 9 p.m. today, South Elgin High School, 760 E. Main St., will host an Activities/Athletics Night for all new students and incoming freshmen for the school year 2008-09. South Elgin offers more than 45 different activities and sports to join. Sponsors and coaches will be available to answer questions in the commons and main gym. • On Tuesday during school hours, the junior leader P.E. classes will be sponsoring their annual blood drive. Staff, students and parents are currently scheduling appointments. If you are interested in donating blood, call Tracey Jakaitis at (847) 289-3760, ext. 3644.
Streamwood High
• On Tuesday, the Streamwood High School Academy seniors will participate in a dinner at 6 p.m. in the library, 701 W. Schaumburg Road.
• On Wednesday, the Drama Club Awards will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
Abbott Middle
• On Thursday, the Abbott Middle School orchestra concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the gym, 949 Van St., Elgin. Feeder elementary school (Gifford, Hillcrest, Lowrie, Otter Creek, and Washington) orchestra students in fourth to sixth grade also will participate.
Eastview Middle
• On Thursday, the Eastview Middle School orchestra students along with students in fourth grade from Bartlett, Centennial, and Sycamore Trails elementary schools along with sixth-grade students from Bartlett, Centennial, Hawk Hollow, Prairieview, Spring Trail and Sycamore Trails elementary schools will present a concert at 7 p.m. in the Bartlett High School auditorium, 701 Schick Road.
Ellis Middle
• On Wednesday, the Orchestra Concert will be presented at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Feeder elementary school (Channing, Hilltop, Huff, and Lords Park) orchestra students also will participate.
Kenyon Woods Middle
• On Thursday, the Orchestra Concert will be presented at 7 p.m. in the gym. This also will include the orchestra students from the feeder elementary schools (Clinton, Fox Meadow, Garfield, Liberty, Nature Ridge, Wayne and Willard).
Highland
• On Wednesday, first- to third-grade students at Highland Elementary School in Elgin will present their Spring Sing at 7 p.m. at the Larkin High School auditorium, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin.
• On Thursday, students in grades K-3 will view a presentation at 9 a.m. from the Gail Borden Library regarding the summer reading program.
Laurel Hill
• On Wednesday, students will participate in "Young Authors Night" at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
Lowrie
• On Friday, Lowrie Elementary School's PTA will present an assembly about the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder for students in kindergarten to sixth grades. Historical perspectives provides an actress who acts out Laura's life from childhood until adulthood.
Spring Trail
• For the entire week, the Spring Trail Elementary School principal is going to ride his bike with students from the neighborhood to the school in the morning and afternoon for Bike to Work Week. Contact Richard Schroeder for details.
