Briefs: Figgins memorial service

A memorial and prayer service Friday will honor fallen St. Charles Police Sgt. Daniel P. Figgins, who died on the job three years ago this spring. The 7 p.m. service will be at Christ Community Church, 37W100 Bolcum Road, St. Charles. Call (630) 628-3934.

Reward in bank heists

The FBI is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information about a trio of March bank robberies, including armed robberies in Huntley and Elburn. Agents think the same man robbed the Fifth Third Bank in Elburn March 25 and the Castle Bank branch in Huntley March 10. A man matching the description also robbed the Midwest Bank and Trust in Union March 24. The robber is described as white, in his 20s, between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He also wore hooded sweatshirts and a backpack. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information can call the FBI at (312) 421-6700, or local police.

SC business breakfast

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership will have a business development breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at Baker Community Center, at Walnut and Second streets. The session topic is "Business Plans -- A Road Map to Success," as presented by Bil Papp, president of P&F Business Advisors, Inc. Admission is free for partnership members and $20 for visitors. District 94 seeks nominees

West Chicago High School District 94 is seeking nominees for a new "Hall of Honor" established to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the school, community or society. Nomination letters for the Hall of Honor should be sent to Dr. Moses Cheng, Community High School District 94, 326 Joliet Street, West Chicago, IL 60185. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday.

Toot in Geneva parade

Former high school band members are invited to join the Second Time Around Band to march in the Swedish Days Parade June 22. Bring your own instrument, though rentals are available. Give blood, get ice cream

Give blood from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 17 at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 East Side Drive, Geneva. Each donor will receive a gift certificate for one pint of ice cream from Batavia Creamery. Snacks needed

The PTOs of Geneva middle schools North and South are seeking donations of snack food for the eighth-grade picnic and dance. Fruit trays, nut-free brownies and cookies, cheese and crackers, pretzels, chips, bottled soda, and water and ice are sought.
